Appearance:

Build:  He is tall and medium build which leans on the heavy side.  He is extremely muscular from years of running drills and chasing Blackwood Raider from the Vale.

Rack:  Massive and multi-proned similar to an elks.  It only grows larger and more impressive as he ages.

Hair:  Keep short to keep out of his way when he is fighting.

Coat:  An unattractive (for Silverthorne) black with ashy roan sprinkled across it. 

Scars:  He has a scar on his rump and a bite mark on his wither from a fight with a mountain lion.  A scar on his shoulder from his mate Savayla, he hadn't always had the best relationship.

Personality:

Bullheaded:  Being a fighter just comes with the territory when you are born black in a herd that finds golden coats a desirable trait.  He is very stubborn and unwilling to go down without a fight.

Enlightened:  Raised as many young stags in Silverthorne to believe does are a weaker gender.  While he still believes that most does need to be carried for, he has come to see that many are capable of taking care of themselves and sometimes even saving his own life.

Schizophrenic:  Sometimes seeing things that aren't there.  Ruibh had seen a burning doe that helped him along the way to his success as a general.  As he mature, he rarely sees the burning doe that he has named Helia.  With the ability to control his magic at nearly master levels, she only makes an appearance when possible danger is near.  He believes this might also be that since becoming a father to several daughter, finding a loving mate, and a wonderful friend in a soldier doe, Grian has blessed him. 

Screw up:  Despite overcoming his disadvantage of being born the wrong color, having obtained a position as general.  He didn't keep it long, instead wanting to spend time with family.  He still finds it difficult to keep his family life ahead of everything else and also has problems with does often.

Chivalrous:  He isn't above putting himself in an awkward, even dangerous position in order to help a doe that's in trouble.  He's been known to fight a demanding stag to protect an unwilling doe, expecting nothing in return.


History:  Born the only and oldest son of a golden doe, Ruibh wasn't born with the highest opinion of does, or most stags for that matter.  He was raised to believe that doe are for raising children, healing the ill and keeping your den kept, not to fight as a soldier in the king's army.  His father never gave him much attention, focusing on his golden sons, blessed sons.  Be born with a dark coat, at least in Silverthorne, is far from a blessing.  Growing up, many tormented him, calling him a halfling.  As if his mother would do anything as disgusting as consort with a Blackwood.  It was not only an insult to him but to his parents and his future generations.  This began his trouble younger years.  Fighting out of season, mainly to protect the honor of his blessed mother.  But he had a rage he couldn't control at time.  From the age he could begin to manipulate fire, he saw a hallucination of a strange burning doe, only fueling the rage. She seductively whispers to him, he can hear her voice in his dreams and sometimes even when he is awake. She asked him to do things, unthinkable things which he sometimes found himself doing.  Luckily, with the advancement in his magical abilities, Ru has learned to control the flaming doe, who he had now named Helia, at bay, though she does still on occasion show herself at the most inappropriate of times.

As of 761, Ru is beginning to take his job in the herd more seriously, receiving a promotion after proving himself as a good fighter and leader. He has fathered many children, several sons.  He's also sired a wicked creature that he will not claim as his own, even if that means losing the claim on his first blessed daughter.  Though, he is doing as his herd would see fit, he can't help but feel guilty for shunning the poor boy.  This guilt weighs even heavier on him when the colt's mother leaves for Blackwood, forcing his eldest daughter to care for the unfortunate soul.  The guilt is so much, the general has decided to not take anymore does, afraid the wickedness inside of him will curse another colt and ruin another life.
